Temporary Eligibility Outage
Temporary Eligibility Outage
DEERS System Outage: October 9 to October 11, 2026. The Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) will be unavailable from Friday, October 9 at 6:00 PM PT (9 PM ET) through Sunday, October 11, due to a scheduled system migration led by the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC). milConnect will also be unavailable during this window.
TRICARE eligibility verification will be affected, which may impact pharmacy fills and prior authorizations; beneficiaries are encouraged to fill prescriptions before or after the outage window when possible.
Note: TRICARE beneficiaries must be registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) to get the TRICARE pharmacy benefit. https://tricare.mil/Plans/Eligibility/DEERS
DEERS will be unavailable from Friday, October 9 at 6:00 PM PT (9PM ET) through Sunday, October 11.
This is a planned, scheduled DEERS system migration, not a security incident or unplanned failure.
Beneficiaries should plan ahead for the outage window. DEERS-dependent systems, including milConnect, will be temporarily unavailable.
If a prescription pickup or enrollment action would normally fall during the outage weekend, complete it beforehand.
Your TRICARE eligibility is verified when your prescription is processed. During the outage, eligibility cannot be verified and therefore you will not be able to use TRICARE insurance to process your prescription(s) at retail pharmacies or through TRICARE Home Delivery.
If your prescription is processed before the outage, you can still receive it through TRICARE Home Delivery or at a retail pharmacy. If your prescription pickup at a retail pharmacy would normally fall during the outage weekend, contact your pharmacy to see if you can pick it up beforehand to avoid disruption.
If you normally fill your prescription at a military pharmacy, you can continue to pick up your prescription during the outage within the pharmacy hours of operations. Contact your local military pharmacy with questions. Military Pharmacies | TRICARE
Yes. If the pharmacy cannot process your claim, you may choose to pay the full cost. Keep your itemized receipt and any other documents from the pharmacy.
If you paid out of pocket for your prescription, your pharmacy may be able to reprocess the claim after the outage. This will ensure that your copayment is calculated correctly. If the pharmacy is unable to reprocess your claim, you may submit a request for reimbursement.
If the pharmacy cannot reprocess the claim after the system is restored, you may submit a claim for an eligible prescription you paid for out of pocket.
You can file a claim for reimbursement. Reimbursement amounts are subject to cost-shares, copayments, deductibles, and other costs. All deductibles must be met before reimbursement.
Follow the available claim submission instructions and include the required documentation. To submit your claim online, click here.
Approved reimbursement requests are processed within 2 weeks and will be sent to the address on your Express Scripts account.
The prior authorization process includes a review of your TRICARE eligibility. During the outage, prior authorization processes may be delayed
