How to save money on your prescriptions

Opt for a 90-day supply at home delivery.
For eligible prescriptions, you can get up a 90-day supply for a lower copayment at home delivery compared to local retail pharmacies — that can add up to significant savings over the year. Home delivery offers a safe and convenient way to get the prescriptions you take on regular basis. Express Scripts® Pharmacy provides free standard delivery in tamper, weather-resistant packaging. Specially trained pharmacists are also available 24/7 from the privacy of your home.

Simply register or log in to your account and switch your eligible prescriptions. You can also call Express Scripts at 1.877.363.1303. We will contact your doctor to send your prescription to Express Scripts® Pharmacy.

Go generic
Generic medications have the same active ingredients as brand name medications. For many medications, TRICARE offers lower copayments when you use a generic medication. It is a good idea to review your medications with your doctor or pharmacist and ask if your medication is available in generic form.

Stick to local, network pharmacies.
You will save money if you make sure your local pharmacy is in the TRICARE network before you fill your prescription. Home delivery is still your best option for prescriptions you take on a regular basis. One-time prescriptions or prescriptions you need the same day, sticking to a local, network pharmacy is the way to go. To find a network pharmacy near you, simply register or log in to your account.

Compare your cost and coverage with the TRICARE Formulary Search Tool.
Knowing your TRICARE pharmacy coverage, speaking to your doctor about your prescription options and connecting with your pharmacist are great ways to understand your potential savings. Using the Formulary Search Tool provides prescription information to help you get started.

Visit the TRICARE Formulary Search Tool and type in the brand name or generic name and strength of your medication. You will also need to enter the gender and age of the person using the medication to complete the search. A completed search will show:

  • Details about the medication
  • Where you can fill the medication
  • Your copayment (if applicable)[1]
  • Important coverage details
  • .. And more!
