Benefits are designed to make life easier. That’s why the TRICARE Pharmacy Program is accessible, convenient, and designed for beneficiaries like you. Let’s walk through what you need to know to make the most of your TRICARE pharmacy benefit, from ways to manage medications from anywhere to easy-to-use programs and tools made to support you.
Supporting every step
Express Scripts administers the TRICARE pharmacy benefit for most TRICARE beneficiaries and covered family members unless you are enrolled in a US Family Health Plan. Express Scripts works to help you make the most of your benefits and manage your medications with confidence.
Your medications, your way
Your TRICARE pharmacy benefit offers a variety of ways to receive your medication so you can choose the best fit for your needs. These options include:
- Military pharmacies. For no copayment, you can choose to refill at a military pharmacy1. You can get up to a 90-day supply of most medications at military pharmacies. Visit tricare.mil/mtf to find a military hospital or clinic near you.
- TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery*. TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery is a convenient and reliable way to receive your medications. Up to a 90-day supply can be delivered right to your door with free standard shipping.
- TRICARE in-network retail pharmacies*. You can get a 30-day supply of your medication at in-network retail pharmacies. A copayment is required for each 30-day supply for up to a 90-day supply2. The TRICARE pharmacy network gives you access to convenient in-network retail pharmacy locations throughout the U.S. and its territories3. Find a Pharmacy near you.
- Non-network retail pharmacies. You’re also able to fill your prescription at a non-network pharmacy. If you use a non-network pharmacy, you’ll pay the full price for your prescription drugs up front and file for reimbursement on your own. The reimbursement amount has cost-sharing as well. (Note: Reimbursements are subject to deductibles or non-network cost-shares and copayments.) You’ll also pay the full cost of any non-covered drugs.
Digital tools made to meet your needs
Your TRICARE pharmacy benefit includes digital tools that help you stay informed and in control. You have the support of:
- Formulary Search Tool. Directly check medication coverage and copayments, find generic equivalents, and review coverage requirements.
- Express Scripts Online Account. Register or log in to view prescription costs and plan details, manage medication, and more, 24/7.
- Mobile App. Download the free Express Scripts® Pharmacy mobile app to access and manage your account on the go.
Vaccines to protect the whole family
As part of your TRICARE pharmacy benefit, vaccines are covered. Getting vaccinated is one of the easiest, most effective ways to prevent illness and stay healthy. That’s why your TRICARE pharmacy benefit also covers age-appropriate doses of vaccines, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
You’re covered for vaccines like:
- Flu
- RSV
- Shingles
- Pneumococcal
- Hepatitis
- Poliovirus
- Varicella
To learn more about your vaccines covered by your TRICARE pharmacy benefit, visit the Express Scripts vaccine resource center.
You also have options when it comes to where you can go to get these vaccinations:
- TRICARE in-network retail pharmacies: You and your covered family members can receive covered vaccines for free at participating in-network retail pharmacies when administered by a pharmacist. If another type of provider gives the vaccine at a pharmacy, out-of-pocket costs may apply. Before you make the trip, contact your pharmacy to confirm the vaccine you need is available.
- Military hospitals or immunization clinics: Find a military hospital or clinic that offers vaccines at tricare.mil/mtf.
- Civilian and TRICARE-authorized providers: Contact your doctor or see a TRICARE authorized provider at a participating network clinic4. When you get the vaccine from your provider, you may have to pay copayments or cost-shares for the office visit or for other services received during the office visit. Your copayment and cost-share amounts are based on your TRICARE plan. These costs vary based on your TRICARE health plan and you can get some covered vaccines for $0 at participating network pharmacies.
Simply put: It’s pharmacy care made to serve you and your family. We’re here to help you stay informed and in control so you can make the most of your pharmacy benefits. If you have any questions about your TRICARE pharmacy benefit, please call Express Scripts at 877.363.1303.
