Are you taking a specialty medication? Specialty medications are used to treat complex and long-term conditions, and usually have to be stored or handled in special ways. You can take specialty medications for conditions such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis C and cancer. Visit the TRICARE formulary search tool or view the specialty drug list to see if you are taking a specialty medication.

Retail pharmacies
Accredo is the primary TRICARE in-network specialty pharmacy. Accredo is an accredited, industry leading specialty pharmacy that offers expanded services. These expanded services include condition-specific care from specialized clinicians who are available 24/7 to help you. Additionally, Accredo will schedule and ship all your specialty medications – even those that need special handling, such as refrigeration, to you or your doctor’s office. To get started with Accredo, call 1-877-882-3324. An Accredo patient care advocate will then work with you and your military or civilian doctor to take care of the rest.

You may also choose to fill your specialty medication at another in-network retail pharmacy. If you choose this option, you will pay the in-network retail copayment. You should contact the pharmacy of your choice to ask if your medication is available.

Home Delivery administered by Express Scripts® Pharmacy
You may also fill your specialty medication at home delivery administered by Express Scripts® Pharmacy if it is eligible. Home delivery provides benefits including ongoing monitoring and health evaluation to help you manage your specialty medications. Use the TRICARE formulary search tool to see if your specialty medication is eligible for home delivery. You can then transfer eligible specialty medications through your online account or through the Express Scripts® mobile app.

Military pharmacies
Some military pharmacies may stock your specialty medication. Check with your local military pharmacy to see if they stock your medication. Visit tricare.mil/mtf to find a military pharmacy near you. There is no cost to fill covered specialty prescriptions at a military pharmacy.
